Writing for Impact Masterclass

Writing is a lost art.

In an era of endless email, social media content and iterative AI, many sustainability professionals are neglecting their professional writing skills. But good writing is critical for communicating sustainability effectively and cultivating a strong personal brand.

The Writing for Impact Masterclass helps sustainability professionals improve their writing skills through a mix of lessons and hands-on workshopping. Throughout this four-week course, we’ll revisit the basics of effective prose that you learned back in school but may have forgotten, study some of the best practices in current sustainability thought leadership and actively workshop an article or blog you’re currently working on, or would like to create. We’ll also cover the fundamentals of effective sustainability writing.

While the focus of this class is to help you improve your ability to write sustainability thought leadership (e.g. blog posts, contributed articles), what you learn here will make you an all-around better writer for any kind of sustainability communication you engage in, from ESG reporting to investor, customer and employee communication.

This Masterclass is for sustainability professionals of all levels and writing abilities. The beauty of writing is that everyone — even the most skilled writer — has capacity to do better.

I liked everything about this class since it helped not only my writing process, but also to become more confident when writing. What I liked most is that Mike shared advice based on his experience -that is more valuable that anything written in a manual.
— Liliana Martínez Rivera, Senior Consultant @ Carbon Free Consulting
The Writing for Impact Masterclass provided worthwhile and practical tools and habits for writing. These tools, along with instructor and peer feedback, helped elevate not only my writing ability, but my confidence and voice as well.
— Dave Alden, Former Social Impact Marketing, The Walt Disney Company
Mike’s expertise and focus on the writing process made me question my previous writing process. His attention to detail and the format of the class was very helpful to keep myself accountable and motivated, as well as focus on quality instead of the production.
